56 BPC FET CUP

With the presence of six teams, the BPC Negrita Cup will once again be one of the most important events of this ancient sport in Spain. Its appeal makes this tournament an unrepeatable opportunity to enjoy a show that celebrates its 56th edition this year.

The polo players of the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona had already been active for 71 years when in 1968 they decided to organize a major international event. This major competition would be called the Winter Tournament as it would be played at the end of January. The first edition was played with great success, with the Pedralbes team consisting of Enrique Calatayud, JA Tous, Jean Gregory and Major R. Ferguson declaring themselves the winners. In the 1980s, the tournament moved its dispute to the spring, taking place in the months of April or May.

During its 56 years of existence, the tournament has had the participation of very relevant polo players of very diverse origins such as the Domecq brothers, the Trujillo brothers, the Indian Jabar Singh, Major R. Ferguson and the Argentinean Héctor Cacho Merlos, who was among the five best players in the world, Milo Fernandez Araujo , Héctor “el Gordo” Barrantes, Pablo Jaureche, Ezequiel Kraft, Mathias Magrini, Martin Aguerre, Juan Ruiz Guiñazú and Pelayo Berazadi and others. And with them, outstanding polo players from the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona who have competed in all editions and won on numerous occasions.
